The Fabric Store in LA and The Patchwork Show

11/06/2013

Congratulations to Theresa from the Dandelion Drift blog. You won the Happy Homemade book giveaway! I hope Theresa has fun trying some of those great patterns. I am still planning on making the pants to go with the jacket I made from the book.

I went to a new fabric store in Hollywood recently called The Fabric Store on La Brea for an opening party last week with my friend Bethany from Lil’ Bit & Nan and bought some gorgeous linen knit fabric to make a top and some perfect knit for the pants to go with the jacket I already made.. Such beautiful fabrics! Their linens are seriously unmatched! I have never seen such perfect linens. Need I say more? The Fabric Store is actually already established in New Zealand as well as Australia. I had a a nice chat with the owner who really loves having an outpost in LA. It’s the only one in the US. Across the street from Mood I do believe Mood now has some competition!

There were lots of interesting characters there. I actually had a fun surprise in bumping into one of my old club friends who was the photographer. I’m always bumping into people I used to know when I go to LA. Well, I did grow up there… I love living in the country, but it’s nice to be able to get into my car and after an hour I’m back on familiar ground. Because let’s face it. You can take the girl out of the city but you can’t take the city out of the girl. And  sometimes I just need some awesome Thai food on Hollywood Boulevard or a bacon wrapped hot dog in downtown LA.

I have been super busy. I made my first Etsy sale! I’m also working on lots of holiday projects which I will be sharing over the next month and this weekend I should be finishing up my top pattern! Plus, I’m writing an article for Sew News magazine and trying to sew for a craft fair I’m doing in two weeks called the Patchwork show down in Long Beach. Needless to say, my house needs some TLC.patchwork show - modern handmade festivalI’m worried I won’t have enough stuff to bring with me! This is something I will be selling there:
