Beachy linen pull on pants Jalie 3243

08/15/2018

Pattern: Jalie 3243 size T with no adjustments

Fabric: Pinstripe cotton linen blend from The Confident Stitch. Sold out. Sorry!

Hello there!

I’ve been gone for awhile!

I’m glad to be sewing again, and this simple pattern was a good project to get me back into the sewing saddle. The pants are super simple to sew and I made no adjustments to the fit. I used my little Janome Magnolia to sew them and my Bernina 800 overlocker. The backstich button doesn’t work on the Janome, so I had to manually do that. It reminded me of when I first learned to sew on my mom’s beat up Kenmore.

If you haven’t ever made pants or are looking into making a very easy pair, this is your pattern, my friend. It has a simple elastic waistband which doesn’t look too home made up close! They look a lot like a linen pair of pants I saw at Nordstrom’s a few months ago.

If I make these again I will throw on some large patch pockets on the behind. But I’m pretty happy with these pants and will wear them to death, I ‘m sure. I don’t have any casual pants like this.

I love this fabric that was sent to me from The Confident Stitch back in May before I left on my trip. But it seems it’s all sold out. Oh well. I seem to have waited much to long to get these made. I have some more projects in the line up and I am going today to see if I can sign up for an advanced costuming course at the local college. I need to start doing something with my sewing again. I’m going to be starting my bridal sewing and alterations business back up, and I will be posting more about it, soon.

Also, Richard found my Bernina and all of its attachments in a small closet at the new place. I am so happy about this because there is no way I can make bridal gowns on my clunky old machines. Well, I guess I could, but it would be a real drag!

Would you believe I have had this pattern forever and yet to sew them up! Glad to see it made because I was just thinking about trying it out for a pair of linen shorts. They look really nice for such a simple pattern.

Yes I totally belive that Shirley. I have a few Jalies I’ve had for years without sewing too. Hello circle mini skirt. I’ve actually aged out of that pattern since I bought it, LOL!

These look so great on you, Justine! Great job, even with the Janome Magnolia! I’m so impressed how you matched up the pinstripes at the seams! Delighted to see you sewing again! Keep us posted how it goes with the advanced costuming course. 🙂

Hi Justine, it’s good to see you back at the machine. The pants are so cute and look very comfortable. Yep, you’ll probably find yourself wearing them a lot. Have fun with your new course and I hope you have much success and fun with your new business. It’s time to clean out my sewing room, again and make some new tops. The fabric is waiting.
