Butterfly Silk Chiffon Kimono -Patterns Of Wal-Mart

05/14/2015

Silk chiffon kimono New Look 6378. Patterns Of Wal MartToday’s Patteren Of Wal Mart make is a kimono sewn from some silk chiffon printed with butterflies and trimmed with mini pom poms. Sewn from New look 6378- $2.97. I sewed view C new look 6378This design doesn’t have the usual folded over band facing the front edges, so it’s really quick to sew up. If you don’t use French seams like I did, it will probably take about an hour. I sewed a size small with no adjustments.

I used a silk chiffon printed with big, gorgeous butterflies I found in the garment district for the unbelievable price of five dollars a yard. The mini trim was bought at Joann.Silk chiffon kimono New Look 6378. Patterns Of Wal MartSilk chiffon kimono New Look 6378. Patterns Of Wal Mart

I did make this for me, but I have a feeling it will be spending some time being worn by Miss I., who loves it too. I asked her if she thought kimonos were out of fashion yet, and she said no, they are still really popular. She’s my fashion consultant sometimes. 19 year olds are pretty up to date,or this one is,so it’s handy to have one around for the summer sewing reference before she goes off to university. She has my boots on here, too so I guess they pass the test. They do double duty for us.I’ll miss her rifling through my closet! Funny how you miss those little things.Silk chiffon kimono New Look 6378. Patterns Of Wal Mart

I had this chiffon for a couple years , because I had no idea what to make with it. I felt the simplicity of the kimono was the perfect backdrop to show it off. Aren’t those butterflies insanely gorgeous?!Silk chiffon kimono New Look 6378. Patterns Of Wal MartHere is a close up of my tiny hems. That’s incredibly cute, and yup! Right on trend. I love the little Pom poms, I can’t find those anywhere. Guess I’ll have to order some. I need that pattern now! For a couple bucks I don’t even feel bad. Love the butterflies and the teeny French seams!

Thanks Amy! Just check in the trim section of Joann. They are about 3 dollars a roll.

That was a perfect use for the chiffon. Love the edging. Your daughter looks “cool” wearing it.

THANK YOU for posting this! I have been meaning to make a kimono for several years, but after working with that soft fabric stuff I was hesitant to get near it… I love the edging that you put on it. I would not have looked at this pattern had you not done this post…. I love that God made us all so unique and to some He gave the ability to be creative (you) and to me He gave the appreciation for people like you since I didn’t get the creativity. Thank you for sharing your gift!
