Drape Front Sweater Tutorial

12/06/2011

My Inspiration.

My version of the drape front sweater. They have been in all the shops for a few months now. I wanted to make one but couldn’t find a pattern so I figured out how to make one without a pattern. Here is how:

Oh, very cute! I picked up one at Ross, one of those really cheap-fabric $5 tops they have there, just to take it apart and see what they did. Then I had a V-8 moment when I realized I just needed to extend the front!! lol Great job on your sweater!

This looks like a fun project. I have a piece of red knit that would be perfect for the sweater. Thanks for sharing the instructions. Saw your project on Craft Gossip.

I can also see this as a waistcoat without the sleeves, it would take less material, so you can pop different coloured tops underneath.
    Fabby idea thanks for sharing.

Probably a dumb question but, the 18″ inches referred to in #2, above, is that 9″ on double fabric or 18″ on each half? I love this and want to make it but do not want to waste material. Thank you for the great ideas.
