Did you know that many of Mood’s most beautiful fabrics in LA aren’t listed on their website? I couldn’t find much online, so I decided to take a little trip there to check out the lace selection for a friend last weekend when I was in town. And I thought some of you readers might be interested too!
Below are some of my favorites. I can guarantee they are special pieces you won’t find in your ordinary fabric store.
I’d like to thank Mood for letting me photograph some of their most luscious and luxurious lace and embellished fabrics. No, it’s not cheap, but sometimes only a really special fabric will do.
Pearl encrusted Alencon lace 30 inches wide 125$ per yardBeaded lace on tulle 45 inches wide $150 per yard.
Nylon Chantilly lace 60 wide $80 per yard.
Exquisitely beaded Alencon lace trim. This type of fringing is a sign of quality lace. I’m not sure where the lace was from, as I didn’t notice a country of origin on the tags of any of these laces. But I’d say it’s French. 12 inches wide, $80 per yard.
Three dimensional embroidered flowers appliqued to a background of netting. So amazing. 60″ wide. $60 per yard.
Simple lightweight lace. 45″wide $50 per yard.
This ruffled feathery lace would make a gorgeous skirt for a gown. 60′ wide and $60 per yard.
Pearl encrusted Alencon lace similar to the more narrow version, but 30 ” wide and $125 per yard.
Pearl embellished silk duppioni 60″wide, $25 per yard. I could see a showstopper of a dress made from this and it’s a great deal.
White tulle netting with ruched silk designs. 60″wide. $60 per yard.
Now on to the colored pieces which were my favorite. Personally, I’d love to make a pink bridal gown for someone.Pink and ivory pearl embellished ivory lace. Oh. My. Word. 45’wide and $150 per yard.
Blue beaded lace. 45″wide and $125 per yard.
Black beaded silk chiffon. 60″wide and $150 per yard. I am in AWE of this one.
Silver beaded lace motifs on an ivory lace background. 60″ wide and $200 per yard.
A detail of the silver beading.
Off white lace on netting with pink chiffon flowers and gold sequins and ivory beads. 60’wide and $125 per yard.
Soft pink beading and green velvet leaves on a background of transparent silk organza or chiffon. This was really so exquisite and the photo doesn’t even come close to how amazing it really is. 60″wide and $250 per yard.
So it really is worth a special trip to go to mood to find the perfect fabric for your wedding dress. I know there are some amazing stores in New York and I’d love for you to recommend a few so I can pop in next time I’m there! Hope you enjoyed my tour!
What gorgeous lace! There’s a shop here in Atlanta that sells beautiful embroidered silk (for home decor) that I will go look at occasionally, just because it is so beautiful. Similar price range, from $150 on up per yard. It is wonderful to know that there people are still producing, and using, lovely things like this. Thank you for sharing these.
Beautiful.
Oh, wow, Justine! I am just speechless at this fabric! I have no idea where I would go in the state of Alabama to find a fabric store like this. (Maybe Birmingham or Nashville, TN??)
Anyway, it’s so nice to “meet” you. I love reading up on new people all over the U.S. I found your site from visiting Mod Podge Rocks via Pinterest. I’m definitely pinning your site, and keep up the good work!
Warmest regards,
Stephanie (from north Alabama)
Wow! These are so exquisitely detailed and . . . beautiful! 🙂 I just think of the forethought and detailing involved in creating these gorgeous embellishments and designs. That’s so neat you got to go there in person to see these! I just went to the Mood website to learn more about what they’re about.
Hello Justine. If I would like to purchase one of the lace pieces above, how would I go about that? Do you sale them or would I have to try an order it from Mood?
Thank you for your assistance.
you can only buy it on the actual store.
