Today I decided I needed to make a beach cover up to wear to the beach. So I pulled out New Look 6283 and a little over a yard of Liberty cotton voile peacock Hera print bought at Micheal Levine over a year ago. I made view C which used the least amount of fabric and just barely fit the pattern in. This pattern is really simple. There are two skirt pieces, a back piece on the fold, and two front pieces. No facings or closures. Perfect for beginner seamstresses.
Instead of ties, I sewed some elastic into the casing. I was that short on fabric. The whole project was cut and finished in less than two hours. I didn’t make any changes to the pattern, and cut a size 12.
I go to the beach a lot. We still have at least a month left of beach days around here. It was HOT today. We always get an Indian Summer.
My daughter is learning to surf and spends hours in the water so I’m often hanging out at the beach, swimming, reading and napping. Oh, the stress!
Sometimes we go to the market or out to eat after, so a little cover up is essential for when I don’t want to get out of my bathing suit. I could probably throw some shorts on under this too, since it’s maybe a little too short…..yes, I’ll wear shorts too.An easy to make and well priced pattern at 3.99. I’m loving New Look! And no, I’m not an affiliate. I just like them!
I have made a few New Look patterns and I am in LOVE! They are great and so reasonably priced. My husband just picked this pattern up for me! I know I won’t be making it anytime soon since we are in Fall now and far, far from any beach. However, you never know how long a pattern will be around and I am becoming such the pattern collector now! Nice to see this made up; your’s looks lovely.
I’ll definitely be reusing this pattern Shirley. I’d love to try it in a more slinky, silky fabric.
Beautiful fabric that looks so pretty with the beautiful blue ocean in the background!
SO pretty Justine.. The ocean behind you looks beautiful too.. This is a great pattern.. I bet it would be a cute fall tunic with sleeves..
Lovely!
So jealous of your weather! Love the fabric, looks great!
That liberty print is so pretty. I need to using my fabrics, all of them….simple garments stand out when you use the best quality fabric.
