My Farmhouse Bedroom…

03/29/2012

It was a rainy day and I was feeling down.
My grandmother once said, if you are feeling depressed clean out a closet.
So i cleaned my room instead.
And I felt better!
Everything in my room is secondhand or handmade.
My 9 year old found this calendar for me in a box at a yard sale.

A friend made me this painting when my marriage was going through a rough patch.

The bedspread was found at the same yard sale. Would you believe I paid only five dollars for it?
The bed I painted.

I also painted this dresser.

We have a big old oak tree outside our window. It’s three hundred years old.
It has seen a lot.

What a gorgeous bedspread!!! Thanks for sharing! Anytime I decide to take pics of things, all of a sudden I see just how filthy and disorganized my house is. My husband is encouraging me to take more photos now. πŸ™‚

I absolutely love this room! I am wanting to do something similar to mine. I do have an old antique dresser, but a chair will not go under it. And we have an old shiffarobe that my mother bought for us when we first moved into our house. It looks like an old farm house and my goal is to do the inside to match the outside.

Oh my goodness, your room is so amazing! Sigh! I could just live there! I pinned the first picture of the vanity, it’s just lovely.

I do have one question — I adore your curtains! They look so full and pretty. Are they pinch-pleats on the rings? Or just clipped? Or gathered? Or what? I have some fabric to use on mine, but I want to recreate the fullness you have!

    Hi Angela.
I sewed my curtains. I bought some of those panel at Target. Since they are so skinny I sewed three together for each panel and sewed some gathering to the top. They are gathered two and a half times the width of the window.
