Winter Wonderland Tour: The Trapper Hat & Sew A Double Circle Scarf

11/10/2013

Today I’m taking part in the Winter Wonderland Tour from Pattern Anthology. Pattern Anthology is a really unique two week pattern sale where four very cool kids pattern designers; Blank Slate, See Kate Sew, Go To Patterns, and Shwinn & Shwinn,  have gotten together to create a collection for a limited time, two weeks. After that, you have to buy each pattern individually on each designer’s site. There are both boy and girl styles and you can purchase them all or just a boy or girl package. Hopefully this cute hat is included in both. Visit the collection here.

DoubleCircleScarfI sewed up See Kate Sew’s new design called The Trapper Hat in some super soft fur with a silk lining. This was leftover from a cape I made last year and it’s soooo soft! The silk is the same color as the fur and will add to the hat’s warmth this winter. I hope it will get cold enough for Genevieve to wear!

circlescarf2I also made a very simple and quick to make scarf from some polar fleece. It’s a 60 inch long by 12 inch wide piece of fabric which I sewed lengthwise first and left the last two inches on each end unsewn. Then I turned it right side out. I flipped the two end together and sewed those then hand tacked the hole shut. There are many circle scarf tutorials on the internet where you can see tone of photos on how to sew , but because my scarf was polarfleece I needed to make it a bit longer than most. That’s why it ended up being 60 inches long.

circlescarf4 I I do have enough fabric to make another hat, therefore I’m listing it in my shop  . You can visit my Etsy shop and convo me if you don’t sew or just don’t feel like sewing or want to order your own in this specific fur fabric which I bought in Los Angeles at a specialty fake fur shop.. You won’t probably  ever find it at your local Joann.
