Yoked simple top for me in Little Folks voile

10/12/2013

This was a simple top to draft and sew up and it’s very comfy! ย It’s basically just a simple dolman top pattern which I drew a style line through and created a yoke. Then I slashed and spread the bottom portion of the top piece and created fullness to create some gathers.
I used an Anna Maria Horner print form the Little Folks line in voile. So glad I finally used it because I’ve had it over two years now.
ย If you are interested in trying this pattern let me know. I have already graded it, and it’s such a ย simple to sew!

    Justine,
This top is so cute! I love the color and the print AND those gathers. I can’t wait to start making things for myself, but I’m not there yet. I’m making costumes for my girls this week and I’ve never even sewn a dress! I’m pinning this to ‘sew for ME to wear’ board. ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a great weekend!

I love this pattern. After years of searching and trying to understand my body I have found tops that work for me. I am broad shouldered but narrow…make sense…? So this top helps even me out and it sits well on me. I would like to try this pattern…how much is it?
Thank you…and I love love your fabric

Justine, so cute!! I love the way it looks on you!! I’m busty with broad shoulders so the yoke or gathers seem to sit in the wrong place when I wear a top like that. I never thought to make my own. I think I don’t sew much for myself because I hate sewing muslins and making adjustments. Fit issues make me feel like a mutant. You are kicking but on pattern drafting! I’m enjoying your draping series a lot. I can tell you’re really pushing yourself creatively- I feel like you’re on the verge of something big. Idk how to explain it, I’m not psychic or anything, but you have that “never stop learning” attitude that God just loves to bless. Keep on:)

I love this top. I have a hard time finding ones that fit my larger chest without making me look like a big box. Would it be possible to receive the pattern to test it. If so, any recommendations on where I might need to make adjustments would be great!
